The Wiltshire Compost Ambassador scheme was established in 2003 and has seen over 100 volunteers being trained during that period. Compost Ambassadors support the Trust’s efforts to spread the word on composting and help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill. Compost Ambassadors pass on practical advice on composting to friends and neighbours in the community. Some also host information stalls at events, write articles for the local press, or design informative posters for use in community centres. In Wiltshire the Compost Ambassadors have also come up with some novel ways of promoting composting, including dressing up as compost bins for several carnivals which has seen them win a number awards.
