Master Composter Conference 2008 - a great success!
Despite the cold, the second UK Master Composter Conference was a great success. The 160 Master Composters/Compost Gurus/Compost Doctors and Nurses/Compost Ambassors/Home Composting Advisors were treated to talks and workshops on all aspects of home composting and compost promotion. Highlights included Bob Flowerdew talking about his own composting experiences (have you ever tried sticking a whole road-kill deer in your compost bin!) and Inge Singleton from Aalst in Flanders, Belgium contributing to a truly inspirational workshop on moving on from solely promoting home composting to working on ecological gardening, local food production and wider waste issues. Both workshop sessions given by Richard Fishbourne of Wiggly Wigglers were packed out and we are sure the participants would have been happy if Richard had carried on talking for another two hours! Notes and presentations from the day are available to download from this website. For these, or another protocol for the Compost Potting Mix experiment that was introduced on the day, click here. |
